Sarah Virginia Wade (BournemouthEngland10 July 1945) is a former tennis player from Great Britain. She won seven grand slam tournaments – three in the single and four in doubles.

She played tennis at the highest level of 1968 to 1986.

She won WimbledonIn 1977 , by Betty Stöve in the final to beat the Dutch. It is striking that all three to win a Grand Slam singles tournament of her finals.

In 1989 was inducted into the international Tennis Hall of Fame.

As of 2006 she is commentator for the games during Wimbledon.

  • Queen Elizabeth II attended the Wimbledon final against Betty Stöve at. This would be the last time that she was present at a Wimbledon tournament until they the contest in the second round by Andy Murray against Jarkko Nieminen attended on June 24, 2010. [3]
