1957-1970 The Beatles[Edit]Edit

[3]

See main article The Beatles on this topic.

In 1957 he met through a common friend know, John Lennon joined his band The Quarrymen and wrote along with him, George Harrison and Ringo Starr history as a member of The Beatles. McCartney wrote much of the material by the Beatles with John Lennon, although they wrote a song together but occasionally-usually wrote the one the biggest piece and made the other finish it.Their relationship was more of a contest than a collaboration, but by an appointment that they were all made early songs for the Beatles, to which one of them or both were working, as Lennon/McCartney credits.

McCartney was generally seen as the most handsome of the four Beatles and had the greatest female following. He had a long relationship with the actress Jane Asher before he met Linda Eastman, a photographer,. He married Linda in 1969. They had three children: Mary, Stella and James. Linda already had a daughter, Heather, from a previous marriage.

One of McCartneys best-known compositions, Yesterday, is covered by a record number of artists, and is noted in the Guinness Book of Records. Other ballads have a universal appeal that also include Hey JudeLet It Be and Eleanor Rigby

1970-1980 Solo career & Wings[Edit]Edit

[4][5]Paul and Linda McCartney, 1974

After the Beatles broke up in 1970 Paul began immediately to a solo career. He brought the album McCartney with the famousMaybe I'm Amazed. This was followed by the album Ram that was poorly received. In fact, this album was by his low-fi approach ahead of its time and nowadays Ram considered one of his best albums.

In 1971, Paul McCartney: a new band Wings. Despite the many personnel changes Wings was very successful in the 70 's. The only three constant members of Wings were Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney and Denny Laine. Wings made a number of successful albums such as Band on the Run and Venus and Mars. Also, a number of big hits scored with among other things My LoveLive and Let DieBand on the RunListen To What The Man SaidSilly Love Songs and With a Little Luck. The number Mull of Kintyre, recorded as a tribute to the eponymous peninsula in Argyll (Scotland) where Paul McCartney has a House, was the biggest hit. This single was the best selling single ever until he passed in 1984 sought by Do They Know it's Christmas Band Aid's.To this day, continues to Mull of Kintyre plates which not one of the most widely sold for charity was created.

Plans for a new world tour of Wings in 1980 were cancelled in January 1980 when McCartney at the airport in Tokyo was arrested for possession of soft drugs. He was released after ten days, but the tour was cancelled. In 1980 worked on new songs, but those Wings by were not released. Laurence Juber and Steve Holly therefore left Wings. Also on 27 april 1981 was finally announced that Denny Laine Wings would leave and that the Wings ceased to exist. Due to his arrest in Tokyo, and the murder of John Lennon (december 1980), McCartney decided not to go on tour.

1980-2000[Edit]Edit

[6][7]Paul McCartney, december 2009

McCartney went on tour again until 1989. Early 80 's he wrote songs with Stevie Wonder. From this collaboration was born the hitEbony & Ivory, that Tug Of War on McCartneys ended up album (1982). On that album is also the number Here Today, that McCartney wrote as a tribute to John Lennon.

Another artist where McCartney in the 80 's, worked with Carl Perkins, is the well-known rockabillysinger from the 50 's, known for the song Blue Suede Shoes, who along with McCartney the song Get It sang on the Tug of Waralbum. McCartney is friends hit with Perkins in 1964, when Perkins was present in the studio when a few of his songs recorded by The Beatles (Honey Don't and everybody's Trying To Be My Baby) for their album Beatles for Sale. Perkins also worked together on the song and McCartney "My Old Friend", that on Perkins ' album Go Cat Go ended up.

McCartney also worked together with Michael Jackson. From this collaboration came the song The Girl Is Mine. The song ended up on Jackson's album Thriller, and it became a number one hit as a single. Later, the two still the songs "The man" and "Say Say Say. Of the last are several remixes created. When Michael Jackson in 1984 bought up the rights of the songs of The Beatles, ended the friendship between McCartney and Jackson.

He flopped In 1984 film Give My Regards to Broad Street. Its soundtrack contained besides the hit No More Lonely Nights new arrangements of old Beatles and Wings songs. That year McCartney scored a big hit with the single We All Stand Together. On 13 July 1985 McCartney was one of the artists that should occur on Live Aid, where finishing with Let It Be .

In 1986 the album Press To Play. This album was a moderate success and the reviews range from pronounced negative to wildly enthusiastic. What in any case before the album advocates is that McCartney with producer Hugh Padgham , among other things, Genesis and The Police has tried up with new interesting currents that were in vogue in the 1980s. It is an experimental album as you that the driving force behind Ram'Sgt Pepper, and Wings Over America would expect. The album Flowers In The Dirt, that appeared in 1989, was better received by critics. It contains the hit My Brave Face, together with Elvis Costello that McCartney wrote. McCartney at his instigation used on this album for the first time since the 1960s, showing his Hofner bass. McCartney seems somewhat stylistically seen returning to the period ' 64-' 66, thanks in part to theRickenbacker 12-string-guitar work by Robbie McIntosh of the Pretenders and by the production of Beatle-fan Mitchell Froom ( Crowded House, among others, Suzanne Vega). To promote Flowers In The Dirt went McCartney in 1989-90 for the first time since the break-up of Wings again on a world tour.

McCartney and his wife Linda were outspoken vegetarians and animal rights activists. In 1991 introduced Linda McCartney meat substitutes its own series on the UK market. In 2009 Paul founded the Meat Free Monday campaign on.

On 11 March 1997 by Paul Queen Elizabeth II was included in the order of the British Empire. Since then, he shall not place the individual Sir titled (Knight) enter. In the same year appeared the Jeff Lynne produced album Flaming Pie.

2000-present[Edit]Edit

After Linda McCartney died of breast cancer in 1998, married in June 2002 with Heather Mills, a former model and anti-landmine activist. They had a daughter, Beatrice Milly on 28 October 2003. In May 2006 it was announced that the two had decided to get divorced.

In 2002 Paul McCartney went again on a world tour for the first time in nine years. On 25 april 2003 he stood with the Back In The World tour in the GelreDome in Arnhem. He also gave a concert for the first time in his career in Russia, on the red square in Moscow.

On 2 July 2005, McCartney along with U2 the Live 8concert in Hyde Park in London by Beatlesong Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. A day later it was made available as a download this live event, and came across this from scratch at number 1 in the downloadcharts. Incidentally, Paul McCartney also Live 8 that day off ditch.

McCartney wanted In 2008 again on a world tour. This tour was actually scheduled for 2007 but first he wanted to finalize his divorce from Heather Mills. On 17 March 2008 the Court decided that McCartney 24.3 million pounds (30.9 million euros) to Heather Mills had to pay. Also he had to for the purpose of raising their child pay 35,000 pounds a year.

On October 22, 2009 it was announced that Paul McCartney in december of that year would do a short tour through Europe. The tour was given the title The Good Evening Europe Tour. On 9 december, the GelreDome in Arnhem done to them. That was the first time in six years that Paul McCartney came back to Netherlands. He has played a few songs for the first time in the Netherlands, including Mrs. Vandebilt of the album Band on the Run, which he incidentally almost half played. The concert got very good reviews of different newspapers. From March 2010, McCartney in the United States continue with the Up and Coming Tour.

The composition of the McCartney band is Paul Wickens (keyboards), Abe Laboriel Jr. (drums), Rusty Anderson and Brian Ray(guitars).

McCartney revealed that he again early 2011 release a new album. On 9 October the same year, he married Nancy Shevell.

On 4 June 2012, a few weeks before his 70th birthday, McCartney performed at the Diamond Jubilee Concert in honor of the 60th Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, in addition to, among other things, Tom JonesElton John and Stevie Wonder. A few weeks later he also appeared on the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. That year McCartney received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, right next to using existing stars of the other Beatles, and he was awarded the Legion d'honneur by French president François Hollande for his achievements in the cultural sphere.

On december 12, 2012, it was announced that McCartney will replace the late Kurt Cobain of Nirvanaas foreman, together again for the first time in 20 years, during the benefit concert for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Together they recorded Cut Me Some Slack on it, which is written for the documentary Sound City of Foo Fightersfrontman and former Nirvana drummer- Dave Grohl.

Pseudonyms[Edit]Edit

[8][9]Paul McCartney, 2004

Over the years, McCartney also work under pseudonyms issued. In most cases it was experimental or less commercial work. In 1968 he produced "I'm the Urban Spaceman" by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. On the album is McCartney, however, listed as "Apollo c. Vermouth".

In 1977 the album McCartney brought an orchestra performance Ram under the name Percy "Thrills" Thrillington.

As Bernard Webb he wrote in 1966 the song "Woman" for Peter & Gordonbecause he was wondering if the public would appreciate a song from him also as not known was that it was a McCartney-number concerned. The song was a minor hit.

Under the name Paul Ramon (a name he also occasionally used before The Beatles broke through, and which formed the inspiration for the name of the group The Ramones) he played in 1969 with it on the track "My Dark Hour" by the Steve Miller Band.

In the 1990s he released two experimental albums as The Fireman, in cooperation with Youth of Killing Joke(among other things). In particular, the second album "Rushes" is very successful. That The Fireman Paul McCartney is, was initially quite obscure: band name and album title refer in combination with one another to the Beatlenummer "Penny Lane" (' ... the fireman rushes in... '). The label, Juggler Records, refers to the vignette of McCartney Productions Ltd (mpl), on which a juggler is depicted. Furthermore, there are some distorted sounds on which to McCartneys voice and a photo on the inner cover of a nude woman that is very similar to McCartneys daughter Mary. During the world tour of 2002-2003 was music by The Fireman used as for program. Until then was hardly known even at the fans that this is work of Paul McCartney went.

In subsequent tours, the DJ Freelance Hellraiser in the program, which several songs from the solo career of McCartney mixte. McCartney and he brought in 2005 a double-LP full of this kind of mixing. Both the LP as the artists got the name "Twin Freaks" with it.
