Michelle Marie Pfeiffer (Santa Ana (California), april 29, 1958) is an American film actress. She was both in 1989 (for Dangerous Liaisons), 1990 (for The Fabulous Baker Boys) and 1993 (for Love Field) nominated for an Academy Award. More than twenty acting prizes were actually awarded her, including a BAFTA Award (forDangerous Liaisons), a silver bear (for Love Field) and a Golden Globe (for The Fabulous Baker Boys).

On 6 August 2007 Pfeiffer got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Pfeiffer knew her big break in Hollywood with the musical film Grease 2 (1982), the sequel to the hit film from 1979. Pfeiffer was noticed by the major studios, which act as a drug-addicted wife of Al Pacino in the cult film Scarface (1983).

Better roles and better directors followed, and in the 80 's was to see in high-quality films as Pfeiffer Ladyhawke with Rutger Hauer in the male lead (1985), The Witches of Eastwick (1987) and Married to the Mob (1988) by Jonathan Demme. It was suggested that Stephen Frears Demme to Pfeiffer as Madame de Tourvel in the gullible his movie Dangerous Liaisons (1988). The role turned out to be a real hit because Pfeiffer won a BAFTA and was nominated for an Oscar.

In 1989 signed the actress for the role of singer Suzie Diamond in The Fabulous Baker Boys in which they played beside the brothers Beau and Jeff Bridges. An erotically charged scene, in which Pfeiffer in a red dress lying on a piano ' Makin' Whoopee ' sings, became world famous and the actress won several film awards including aGolden Globe for best actress. On the Oscar ceremony, she was a favorite to win, but the statuette went to Jessica Tandy for Driving Miss Daisy (1989).

After roles in The Russia House (1990) and Frankie and Johnny (1991) was also a record year for 1992 Pfeiffer. They scored well at the box office with the role ofCatwoman in Batman Returns of Tim Burton and was again nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of a courageous housewife in the 60 's in Love Field. For the latter film, she won top prize for best actress at the also Berlin Film festival.

In 1993, she played the role of Martin Scorsese for the Liberal Countess Olenska in the love drama The Age of Innocence. In the same year married Pfeiffer and she gave birth, increasing the number of film rolls declined. She made yet for blockbusters with Dangerous Minds (1995), What Lies Beneath (2000) and I Am Sam (2001), but the big success remained mostly from.

In 2003, the actress nominated for a SAG Award for her portrayal of a mother who ends up behind bars after committing a murder in White Oleander (2002).

Her latest films are Personal Effects (2009), Chéri (2009, again from Frears) and New year's Eve (2011). Currently the actress has two new projects in the pipeline for 2012: People Like Us (2012) and Dark Shadows(2012). For the last film she worked again together with Tim Burton, who gave her her role as Catwoman.

Pfeiffer married in 1981 with actor Peter Horton. The marriage ended in 1988. In 1993 she married David e. Kelley and adopted a daughter. A year later they got a son. The actress protects her private life very much on the spotlight. The times she appears on the red carpet, are rare.
