Ramsay was born in Scotlandbut grew up in England because his parents moved to Stratford-upon-Avon. He has not an easy childhood, in the British TV programme ' 60 minutes ' Ramsay told that his father was an alcoholic who abused his mother. His brother was heroin addict. Ramsay was raised in poor conditions and wanted to leave. [1In his younger years, he played in the youth team football for the football playing in the Football League Two club Oxford United, until he was discovered by a scout at the age of twelve of the Scottish football club-Glasgow- Rangers FC. He had to quit football by a no longer healing knee injury. [2]

With the knee injury brought an end to his football career. Ramsay decided to start working in the catering because he expected to be able to travel as a cook and he wanted to get out of Britain. He worked on his nineteenth with different cooks at several restaurants. Albert Roux first in London and then with Guy Savoy and Joel Robuchon in Parisuntil he was chef in the new restaurant Aubergine in 1993.

The restaurant is against 1996 awarded with 2 Michelin stars. After a dispute with the management of the restaurant Ramsay opened his own restaurant in 1998 in the London district of Chelsea. Already in 2001reached the restaurant a Michelin rating of 3 stars, which Ramsay the first Cook out Scotland made that this had ever reached. From his first restaurant expanded his Empire rapidly, starting with Peter Knight bridgeLondon in what has become known as 6 bankers there for no less than £ 44,000 on wine expenditure during one meal in 2001. Then the restaurant One Devonshire Gardens Amaryllis in Ramsay's hometown ofGlasgow. This is the only restaurant that was not successful, in Scotland was not a market for ' fine dining '. Later Gordon Ramsay Ramsay opened the restaurant in Claridge's and a luxury hotel in Mayfair, Central London. Ramsay now also has a number of restaurants outside of England to start Far in DubaiUAEGordon Ramsay at Conrad Tokyo and Cerise by Gordon Ramsay both opened in 2005 in Tokyo. In October 2006 is his latest restaurant Gordon Ramsay at the London opened in New York. Gordon Ramsay is one of only 3 chefs who own a restaurant in England that has 3 Michelin stars.

In 2008 Ramsay bought together with two partners (Lyndy Redding and Andrew Maxwell) the fifty year old Training Institute: Tante Marie Cookery School. The Training Institute is based in Surrey, England.

Private Life[Edit]Edit

Ramsay is married to Cayetana Elizabeth Hutcheson in 1996 (better known as Tana), a Montessori trained school-teacher. When they first met was engaged to Tana Ramsay's best friend. Tana Ramsay said in an interview that they could stand out at first. Tana and Gordon were both engaged to be married when they met, but both relationships were on the verge of collapse. The couple has four children: Megan, twins Jack and Holly and Matilda. Ramsay's father-in-law, Chris Hutcheson, is responsible for the business operations of Ramsay's restaurant Empire. [3]

Since september 2004 has its own television program called Ramsay : Gordon Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares (in Dutch: Gordon Ramsay: war in the kitchen), in this programme, Ramsay to various restaurants that are about to go broke. The goal is ultimately to ensure that the food Gets a higher quality, that the atmosphere of the restaurant is jacked up and that the staff is motivated to eat better to do. This program is also known that Gordon very much scolds and every "fuck" says. In addition to the original UK version has Ramsay also several seasons of the programme for the US market. A Dutch variant of this program is broadcast in 2005 under the name of noise in the kitchen with Cook Herman den Blijker.

In 2005 a new program with Ramsay: Gordon Ramsay, hell's Kitchen (in Dutch: Gordon Ramsay: Thunder in the kitchen). In this program fights twelve novice chefs to their own restaurant. This program is in America working on his twelfth season. Series twelve is started on 13 March 2014 on American television.
