Father Brown is a British television detective series that aired on BBC One. The series is based on the character of Father Brown, a Roman Catholic priest, created by the British writer G.K. Chesterton for a series of short stories, later published in five books. The series is based on new stories written for the series. Two seasons of ten episodes were recorded and broadcast, in January 2013 and January 2014. A third set of 15 episodes was ordered.

The series is set in the early 1950s, in the fictional village of Cotswold Kembleford, where Father Brown the pastor of the St Mary's Catholic Church. The shooting took place in the Cotswolds, the Church and property are located in Blockley, other scenes were filmed in Upper Slaughter , Winchcombeand Weston Super Mare.

Father Brown (Mark Williams) is a bit disordered and mild-mannered Roman Catholic priest. Its apparent innocence and playful humor is associated with a razor-sharp intellect. His greatest strength, both as a priest and as a detective, is his love and understanding of other people. He is not there to judge, but to save souls.

Inspector Valentine (Hugo Speer), head of the local police, is constantly torn between secret admiration for Father Brown and deep frustration about him. He would like to work with him, but cringes for Browns unorthodox solutions.

Mrs Bridgette McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack) is the parish Secretary at St Mary 's. She checks the facts for Father Brown, defends him from the wrath of the municipality, and makes sure he eats.

Lady Felicia Montague (Nancy Carroll) is a a rather bored lady from the upper class.

Sid Carter (Alex Price) is a petty criminal who is held by Father Brown on the right path.

Susie Jasinski (Kasia Koleczek) is Father Browns part-time housekeeper, and lives in a nearby Polish camp.
