The Dutch national baseball team is the national baseball team of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The team is the responsibility of the DUTCH FEDERATION.

The Dutch national baseball team is the most successful European baseball team. It holds the record with 20 WINS and gained nine times the second place on 29 participations in the European baseball championship.

Also on the Baseball World Cup , the team has delivered good performance. The best result was the fourth place until 2011 on a world championships (2005 and2007). In 2011 the absolute peak by winning the world title at the World Championships in Panama.

The team also competed in the Olympic Games of 1988199620002004 and 2008 and the World Baseball Classic, which was held in 2006 and 2009 and 2013.

Team Composition[Edit]Edit

The share ArubaCuraçao and Sint Maarten in the Caribbean have a stronger baseball tradition than Netherlands. A team from WillemstadCuraçao won the 2004 Little League World Series and finished second in 2005. In the past, each colony had its own team. So for example, the Netherlands Antilles had its own baseball team (including 12 x participant in the World Cup), but in the last years play baseball players of Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten the Dutch baseball team at international matches often along with enabling a stronger team can be formed.

Netherlands was both in 1986 as host of the World Cup tournament in 2005. Netherlands was host in 2009. The WORLD CUP was then finished entirely in Europe. After in five countries (Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic and Croatia, Sweden) the preliminary rounds were played, followed the second round in Italy and Netherlands (host cities: Amsterdam, Haarlem and Rotterdam). For the final round went the best eight teams to Italy.

The European Championship was organized by Netherlands nine times so far (in 1958, 1962, 1973, 1977, 1981, 1985, 1995, 2003 and 2012).

Friendly[Edit]Edit

The Dutch team plays annually some friendly tournaments. In the Netherlands takes part in the Haarlem baseball week and the World Port Tournament. In 2006 there was also a two battle against Italy, the European Baseball Series.
