Cynthia Nixon (New Yorkapril 9, 1966) is an American actress.

Life and career[Edit]Edit

Cynthia Ellen Nixon graduated from Hunter College High School in New York City to start then to a training at the Barnard College. She is best known as the lawyerMiranda Hobbes in the tvcomedy Sex and the City. Since 1980, she has played in several Broadwayproductions, including "The Last Night of Ballyhoo", "Indiscretions", "Angels in America", "The Heidi Chronicles" and "The Women". For her role in "Indiscretions , she was nominated for a Tonyaward in 1995, but they only received one in 2006 for Best Leading Actress in a Play. In addition, she won a Theatre World Award for her role in Philadelphia World and a Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for her role as Honey in Edward Albee's production who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. Nixon also made her film debut In 1980 in the print Little Darlings. Since then, she always managed to combine its successful Theatre career with her film work. They played in "Igby Goes Down", "Amadeus", "Prince of the City", "baby's Day Out," "The Pelican Brief", "Marvin's Room" and "The Out-of-Towners". They in fact received fame among the general public especially for her role as lawyer Miranda Hobbes in the American sitcom Sex and the City. For this role dyed the naturally blonde actress her hair fire red. For this role Nixon received three Golden Globes-nominations and Emmy-award in2004.

Since 1988 was Nixon along with childhood sweetheart, a professor in English linguistics and photographer. They have two children: a daughter (born in november 1996) and a son (born in december 2002). However, in 2003 the couple apart. In 2004, Nixon announced that she had a relationship with a girl, the day after winning her Emmy-award. Her friend gave birth to a son in February 2011. [1the couple married on 27 May 2012 in New York, after they had been engaged for more than three years. [2]
