Carrie Fisher (Beverly Hills (California), October 21, 1956) is an American actress, best known for her role as Princess Leia Organa in the Star Warssaga by Director George Lucas, in which she played in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope (1977), Star Wars Episode v: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983). Fisher is the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher.

She was in 1983-1984 eleven months married to singer Paul Simon, from the Simon & Garfunkel duo. She has a daughter by Bryan Lourd, who however impresario living together with a man over a preferred relationship with Fisher.

Fisher wrote the autobiographical book postcards From the Edge, which was made into a film with Meryl StreepShirley MacLaine and Dennis Quaid in the lead roles.

In 2008, Fisher lectures in the United States under the motto Wishful Drinking in which she talked about her drug and drink addiction and her life with a bipolar disorder.

In March 2014, it was announced that Carrie Fisher also appeared in Star Wars Episode VII.
